The Western: An Epic in Art & Film was an exhibit like no other at the Denver Art Museum. It was the first exhibition to examine the Western genre and its evolution through the lens of fine art, film, and popular culture.
To communicate the uniqueness of this exhibit, we chose a a vintage Western film style. It was the first time the Museum used original artwork to market an exhibit and I was tasked with illustrating the main image. Itook inspiration from classic Western films and created a cowboy’s approaching shadow against a backdrop of the iconic Monument Valley. The simple color palette further grabbed viewers’ attention.
In addition to all the onsite and out-of-home marketing materials, the team got to work with Frost Motion to create a commercial for the exhibit. It was incredible to see my illustration expanded from a single image to a complete world.
